Tossing My Candles and Wall Plug Ins

I admit, I am that girl that who was absolutely obsessed with scented candles. Just about every chance I got I was buying different scents, especially around the holiday season. This has now all stopped since recently finding out how bad it all is for my family.

Up until now, like I said, I had candles lit and wall plug ins going everywhere in our home. I was always trying to find ways to freshen up my home, well because having 4 dogs, a cat, and guinea pig doesn't help the smell at all, if I'm being honest. All of these years I had no clue how toxic these things were to me until now. This explains my horrible migraines and what I thought was allergies. Little did I know that a majority of it was the candles and plug ins.

I will say that I'm going to miss the flicker of a candle light in the evenings while watching my favorite holiday movies, but it will be worth it! Seriously, just do a real quick Google search of  "what are candles made of?". The first sentence that pulls up says "Today, most candles are made from paraffin wax, a product of petroleum refining." I don't know about y'all but when I read that, it was done for me.

Since I read that, I really started to dig deeper into what I'm using in our home. I've been watching from afar about essential oils and it has really got me curious. All of these mommies using the oils to help with headaches, colds, congestion, and so much more for their children sparked my interest. THAT sold me! So I have made the decision to toss all my candles, wax melts, and wall plug ins and I will officially be switching over to 100% essential oils.

I'm actually really excited about this switch. I mean not only can these essential oils be used to help just about anything and everything, you can also create your own scents to diffuse. Scents for any holiday, time of the year, or blends to help with a problem you are having. The essential oils can be used aromatically (the most common), topically, and internally. Pure, therapeutic grade essential oils are GOOD for you. They boost your immune system, support your emotions, help your respiratory system, and so much more.

I am so excited for this journey and I can't wait to share more with y'all on using essential oils in our home!
